A solution is two or more substances mixed to
form a single, homogenous phase. One of the
substances is the solvent and the others
(solutes) are said to be dissolved in it.
A solution in earth science, is the
dissolving in water of minerals within a
rock. It may result in weathering (eg: when
weakly acidic rainfall causes carbonation)
and erosion (when flowing water passes over
rocks).
